Self-Reg proven methods for self-regulation and regaining calm

The Self-Reg method is primarily designed to help children acquire soft skills for coping with stress. A parent who wants to help a child cope with anger or rage must learn to control it. It is worth knowing that there is no single, proven method that works for everyone. We are all individuals, with different experiences, therefore the method of self-regulation may mean something different for everyone. It is worth testing different ways to find your own way of dealing with stress and negative emotions. It is definitely a process that will have long-term effects

How do you deal with stress on your own?

  1. Recognizing the situation where stress and emotions are taking control of us
  2. Noticing what the main stressor is
  3. Reduce stress by, for example, taking a few conscious breaths, drinking a glass of cold water, going for a walk, talking to someone close and trusted.
  4. Seeking support – being empathetic with yourself
  5. Reflecting on which method of self-regulation was most helpful
